Service and Socializing Opportunities
American English in Action
American English in Action is a volunteer tutoring program designed to assist international students and scholars with their conversational English skills. Tutors and participants meet together to practice speaking English and to learn about each others cultures.
Communication Club
The Communication Club is a language and cultural exchange program, partnering domestic and international students in an effort to globalize the UCI community and promote dialogue and inter-cultural interaction.

International Coffee Hour - at the Counseling Center
Every Wednesday from 1-3 pm in Student Services I, Room 201. Come and meet interesting students from all over the world. Enjoy lively conversations and refreshments. New members are always welcome, and you can come and go as you please during the coffee hour.
International Pub Night
Thursday nights are international night at the Anthill Pub and Grille in the UCI Student Center. International Students over 21, be sure to bring your UCI ID and passport to be served.
International Spouses and Partners Tea
The International Center hosts a tea each month for spouses and partners of international students and scholars at UCI. Students as well as other campus and community members interested in meeting these international visitors are welcome. Children are also welcome. Sign up for the Listserv to get monthly invitations, or contact them at: scech@uci.edu.
International Club
The International Club connects foreign students with American students in order for them to practice English, other languages, or just make new friends. The group plans many social, cross-cultural, and recreational activities. All are welcome and active participation in the club is encouraged.
International Village
The International Village is a living-learning residence (located in the Arroyo Vista theme house community) for students who want to increase their knowledge and understanding of different cultures, share international perspectives, and build friendships with students from around the world. Half of the residents are international students and half are from the U.S.
Peer Mentor for EAP Reciprocity Exchange Students at UCI
Serve as a Peer Mentor to an EAP Reciprocity Exchange student who will be studying at UCI for up to one year. Help these new international students get to know UCI, the local area and the culture.

Degree Programs
Majors and minors in International Studies and Global Cultures focus explicitly on learning about the world. However, many other majors can accommodate an international focus. Ask an Academic Advisor or Professor how you can incorporate an international emphasis into your major. Students in all majors can study abroad.
Global Connect
Under the direction of faculty and graduate students you can earn academic credit and leadership experience while teaching high school and middle school students about international issues.
Model United Nations
Model United Nations focuses on developing an understanding of current international issues by providing both high school and college students with an understanding of the origin, the role and the impact of the United Nations in the international community. Participants learn skills to debate, caucus, research and write for simulated UN conferences.
UROP
Plan a faculty mentored research project on an international topic that interests you while you are abroad or once your return. Opportunities are available to apply for research funding, for publication in the UCI Undergraduate Research Journal, and to present your research at the annual UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium.
