Did an international topic spark your interest while abroad? Plan a faculty-mentored research project on your international area of interest and apply to be a Research Abroad Fellow. Opportunities are available to apply for research funding, for publication in the UCI Undergraduate Research Journal, and to present your research at the annual UCI Undergraduate Research Symposium. Civic and Community Engagement Minor – Join today!
The Civic and Community Engagement minor gives you the knowledge, skills, and values to be agents of change in “your” community - whether you see it as local or global. Learn how to effectively contribute to the mission of community organizations for social change and connect with other students like you. You can start the minor by enrolling in Introduction to Civic and Community Engagement (University Studies 10) in winter quarter. New this year in US10 you will get the opportunity to give away $50,000 to organizations you collectively decide as a class are in need and deserve the money.

It’s not too early to start planning your summer abroad experience. U.S. Department of State Student Internship Program (unpaid) – Summer Internship Deadline Oct 14
This program offers U.S. citizen undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to participate in 10-week, unpaid internships that provide intensive educational and professional experience within the environment of America’s principle foreign affairs agency. Internships are available at many of the over 265 U.S. embassies, consulates and missions to international organizations around the world, as well as at the Department of State in Washington, D.C. and other locations throughout the U.S. Participants gain first-hand, hands-on experience, and learn the realities of working in – and with – Foreign and Civil Service professionals who are at the forefront of America’s diplomatic efforts.
