Celebrate International Education Week!
November 16-20, 2009

UCI's International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate
and highlight international education exchange opportunities,
academic programs, and activities at UCI.

Below are a few events of particular interest to returned study abroad participants.  For more information see the full schedule of events.

Get Money to Go Abroad this Summer dollar

Critical Language Scholarship for Intensive Summer Institutes:  Deadline:  December 18, 2009
The U.S. Department of State provides full scholarships for overseas intensive summer language institutes in thirteen critical need foreign languages during summer 2010.  Languages included are Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla/Bengali, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Punjabi, Russian, Turkish, and Urdu.  Scholarship covers all program expenses.

IAESTE Internships: Deadline:  January 11, 2010
IAESTE offers paid internships in over 30 countries in technical fields such as engineering, computer science, mathematics, natural/physical sciences, architecture, and agricultural science.  Most placements last for 8-12 weeks over the summer, though fall and long-term programs are also available. Positions are available in industry, research institutes and universities, consulting firms, labs, and other work environments.

Global Health Travel Fellowships:  Deadline: January 15, 2010
The Global Health Travel Fellowship for undergraduate students assists students in conducting short-term disease-related research in international field sites.  Six to ten fellowships are available.  A maximum of $5,000 in direct costs may be awarded.  The project should be completed during summer 2010, or one quarter in the academic year of 2010-2011.

International Peer Mentor Program: Deadline for winter: November 22, 2009
As a Peer Mentor, you will be an important source of information for a new international student. You will have a chance to meet and become friends with an international student. Help him or her navigate this new community and culture. Our common thread is the experience of studying abroad and our goal is to welcome new students from all around the world. Student Diplomat Video Competition: Deadline Extended: December 15, 2009
Share how your study abroad experience has helped to advance global understanding.  The winner will be named the 2009 Student Diplomat and awarded a $300 cash prize. Meet past winners.
