CIE's Peer Mentor Program
Information for Mentees
The Center for International Education Peer Mentor program is offered to all new EAP Reciprocity Exchange students who will be coming to study at UCI.
The Program is designed to assist new students to adjust to life at UCI as quickly and smoothly as possible. Participating in the program will give you the chance to meet and become friends with a UCI student and to learn more about what to expect during your time of study here.
How does the program work?
- If you are interested in participating in the program, please complete and submit the Web Application Form as soon as possible or at the latest by FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 5.
- Once we've received your application, you will be matched with a UCI student based on the information you have provided on your application. You will be sent information about the student to whom you are matched with via e-mail.
- Please plan to attend a short Peer Mentor Training Meeting. Date, time, and location are yet to be determined. This is where you will have the chance to meet the student to whom you are assigned and can make arrangements to get together. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please contact CIE at cie@uci.edu to make alternative arrangements to meet with your Mentor.
- You and your Mentor will agree where, when and how often you want to meet and your level of involvement with one another will be up to you and your Mentor. Generally, your mentor will share their insights and experiences at UCI, explain how things work on campus and be available to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you for your interest in the program and please feel free to contact CIE if you have any questions at: cie@uci.edu
