On-Campus Housing for Undergraduate Students under 25 years of age

OPTION 1: For housing purposes, you are considered a "New Transfer Student". Options for Transfer Student housing are: Campus Village apartments, Arroyo Vista theme houses, and International Village. These are the designated options for "New Transfer Students" who are under 25 years of age. Descriptions of these options are available on the links above. Many questions can be answered on the Student Housing's General Information for International & EAP/Reciprocity Students page.

These on-campus housing contracts are for one academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters) and cannot be broken. Students studying at UCI for only one or two quarters are not eligible to apply for on-campus housing. UCI guarantees on-campus housing to all incoming students who are single, under the age of 25, who are enrolling in fall quarter and will be staying for the academic year, and who meet the housing application deadline of JUNE 1st and their contract-return deadline. If you are assigned to on-campus housing, the earliest day you can move in is Sunday, September 21, 2008.

We highly recommend that you indicate an interest in all three housing communities mentioned above to maximize your chances of being offered a space. If you are applying to the International Village and/or one of the Arroyo Vista theme houses, make sure to write a separate Statement of Interest. It has been our experience in the past that under certain circumstances, Student Housing has offered contracts for an on-campus community other than Campus Village, the International Village, or Arroyo Vista. However, these three communities are the only options to which you may apply. Note also that applying to the Campus Village Apartments is required; indicating an interest in the International Village and/or the Arroyo Vista theme houses is optional.

IMPORTANT!!!

  • The on-line Housing application deadline is JUNE 1st and it is VERY strict! Applications must be submitted online by June 1st in order to receive guaranteed housing. Applications received after June 1st will be placed on a wait list, therefore, it is CRITICAL that you meet the deadline! If you miss the deadline, return your application as soon as possible, but be prepared to look for off-campus housing on your own.
  • You should complete the housing application on-line via MyAdmissionsApplication@UCI. In order to login, you will need to know your Application ID number (located in your UC Central Processor application acknowledgement letter) and your Student ID number (located in your acceptance letter). If you cannot locate your Student ID#, you can obtain it through this web site. If you cannot locate your Application ID# and cannot call the phone number on the web site, contact CIE and we will obtain it for you. Your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) was submitted automatically when you were admitted to UCI and you do not have to submit it yourself. If the system requires you to submit your SIR when completing your on-line housing application, please contact CIE and we can assist you with this. Important note: All students will also see Vista Del Campo Norte as a housing option on the on-line housing application form. You should not select this community as it offers 12 month (September to September) contracts only and they cannot be broken. This option is therefore not suitable for EAP Reciprocity students.
  • You MUST submit the $20 Housing application processing fee which can be paid online with a credit card. Alternatively, you may also make this payment by printing a payment coupon and mailing it with an international money order in US Dollars payable to "UC Regents."
  • Successful applicants will be mailed a Housing Contract over the summer, so it is CRITICAL that CIE, UCI Admissions, and the Student Housing Office have your current mailing and e-mail address at all times. You will be notified via e-mail when your contract is being mailed to you. Check your e-mail every day, even if you are traveling or on school break - traveling is NOT a valid excuse for missing any deadlines. You MUST return the contract, with the Reservation Fee (ranging from $350-359 US in the form of an international money order payable to "UC Regents"), by the deadline stamped on the contract. There is a QUICK turn-around time to return the contract (typically 2 weeks using express mail, including international mailing time). If you miss your contract deadline (or don't include the Reservation Fee), your contract will no longer be valid, and your space will be given to another student. You MUST observe ALL deadlines set forth by Student Housing. If you have any questions regarding the Reservation Fee, please contact Student Housing before you make the payment. Please note that credit cards and electronic fund transfers are not acceptable payment methods for the Reservation Fee.

**FAILURE TO DO ANY ONE OF THESE THINGS WILL RESULT IN YOU NOT OBTAINING ON-CAMPUS HOUSING**

OPTION 2: Vista del Campo and Vista del Campo Norte are privately owned and managed apartment communities on the UC Irvine campus, offering furnished apartments to single students. They allow residents to sub-lease their room for one quarter maximum, and each quarter, they have some vacancies. The application process for this community is different from that which is described above. Housing is NOT guaranteed in this community. CIE provides EAP Reciprocity students with a biweekly list of students interested in subleasing.
