ARRIVAL AND ACCOMMODATIONS

If you arrive in Los Angeles, California at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), follow these instructions to arrive to UCI. After getting your luggage, go to the blue SuperShuttle van stop outside the baggage claim area and tell the driver you need a van to UC Irvine.  Blue and gold SuperShuttle vans have destinations written across the top - be sure to take an " Orange County " van. The one-way fare is $45.00 for the first person and $9.00 for each additional person (up to 7 people). They accept cash or credit card, which you will pay to the van driver upon your arrival. Super Shuttle runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They offer a small discount to UCI students. There are two ways you can utilize this discount:

Print out the SuperShuttle coupon (.pdf) and give it to any SuperShuttle driver.

If you arrive at John Wayne/Orange County Airport, you can take a taxi from the airport to UCI. The fare should be about $9.00, plus tip. There are information booths at most entrances to the campus. If you're living on-campus, you can ask the person at the booth how to get to your housing assignment. If you arrive before your housing is available you will need to go to a hotel - some suggestion are below.

Note: UCI students can ride the OCTA buses for FREE throughout Orange County when you obtain your encoded student ID at UC Items (located in the UCI Student Center). Please also note there is a reduced bus schedule on Saturdays and Sundays.

For hotel accommodations, we suggest the Cozy Inn. It's located at 325 W. Bay St., Costa Mesa, CA 92627. Their phone number is (949) 650-2055. The student rate is $60 + tax for a single and $70 + tax for a double. Please note that they do not offer shuttle service from the John Wayne/Orange County Airport or to UCI. Their website will be posted soon.

We also suggest the Travelodge Orange County , Best Western Orange County Airport North, or the Ramada Limited. These three hotels offer free shuttle service from the John Wayne/Orange County Airport to the hotel. You should phone the hotels from the airport when you arrive and ask them to send their shuttle to pick you up. Many hotels have complimentary courtesy phones located inside the airport; just pick up the phone and it will connect you with the hotel. They also all offer a complimentary continental breakfast. You must inform the hotel that you are associated with UCI in order to receive the discounted rates quoted below. Keep in mind that these rates are correct at the time of updating, but are subject to change without notice.

The Travelodge Orange County is located at 1400 SE Bristol , Santa Ana , CA and the phone number is (714) 557-8700, then press "0" to be connected to the front desk. The rate is $59.00 + tax for a single or $64.00 + tax for a double. Their weekly rate is $300 + tax for a single, and $320 + tax for a double, which is non-refundable. These are discounted rates for UCI students and you will need to verify your student status by showing them your UCI letter of acceptance. If you choose to pay with cash, you must leave a $10 phone deposit, which you get back when you check out. If you pay with a credit card, a key deposit is not required. They also offer free shuttle service from the hotel to UCI, except on Sundays. The shuttle does one drop off at UCI at 8:00 am , and one pick up at 6:00 pm to return to the hotel.

The Best Western is located at 2700 Hotel Terrace Drive , Santa Ana , CA and the phone number is (714) 432-8888 or toll free at (800) 432-0053. The rate is $79.99 + tax per night. They require either a credit card or a $100 deposit for the room upon arrival, which you will get back when you check out. The airport shuttle runs from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. everyday.

The rate is $76.00 + tax for a single or a double. The airport shuttle runs from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. everyday. Call from the airport for pickup, or make a reservation with the hotel. They do not have shuttle service to UCI.
