Capstone - Practical Application

Put your leadership skills to use through practical application! Assume a leadership role in a campus international / intercultural club or organization and organize at least one event (such as those described below) with a mentor . Normally, this will occur over the period of three quarters.

Please note that there are scholarships available for students interested in public service. For example, the Donald A. Strauss Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship for young leaders. Visit the Scholarship Opportunities Program (SOP) to learn more.

Here are only a few examples of some types of capstone projects you might consider organizing.

As a:
Club officer in an international or culture-focused club
Global Connect Site Supervisor
CIE International Peer Advisor
International Center Intern
HA in International Village
RA in Exploring Study Abroad Hall

  • Organize an event on campus that educates the UCI community about an important issue, concern or development in the country in which you studied abroad.
  • Create a welcome program for new international students at UCI introducing them to local resources and American culture.
  • After studying abroad, organize a fundraising drive for a community (or project) in need in the country in which you studied.
  • Work with an academic department to offer one or more subject area classes taught in a language other than English to promote language skill development.
  • Design programming for the International Village that brings its cultural and international uniqueness and diversity to the broader UCI community.

* Please feel free to design your own project.
