CIE COUNTRY CHATS

The CIE Country Chat is an informal opportunity for you to share your EAP or IOP experiences with students interested in going abroad.  Country Chats take place in the CIE library. You pick the day and time. If interested, sign up at: http://www.cie.uci.edu/forms/countrychat.html  A CIE staff member will get back to you with details. 

STORIES FROM ABROAD

Would you like to share your story with freshmen?  We are offering a great new opportunity to do so in both Mesa Court and Middle Earth. Freshmen will have an opportunity to hear about your experiences and ask questions. ‘Stories From Abroad’ will be held in:

Middle Earth Tuesdays, 6-7 pm (Inside the Tolken room by Pippin Commons)
Mesa Court Wednesdays, 6-7 pm (Inside Mesa Commons in the back room)

Two or three EAP and IOP returnees will share their experiences at each session. Each week will be hosted by someone new. If you would like to be one of them, pick a Tuesday or Wednesday, any week that works for you and email us with the date:  cie@uci.edu The coordinating International Peer Advisor will get back to you with details.

Keep your study abroad experience alive:

CIE SOCIAL HOUR – Every Friday at 12:00 noon at CIE

The CIE Social Hour is a great opportunity to come together and meet other students with international interests in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Students planning to go abroad, returned students, international students and anyone else with an international curiosity are all welcome!  Free food! Bring a friend!

ON-LINE TRAVEL NETWORKING

Keep your experience alive by joining an on-line network that connects you to other like-minded students here and abroad.  Start your own travel pages, post photos, and share your experiences with others.  Check out several sites at: http://www.cie.uci.edu/world/travel.html#Resources Some have been developed by UC students just like you!

FORUM ON EDUCATION ABROAD RESEARCH AWARD
The Forum on Education Abroad is a professional organization in the field of study abroad.  For the third year, the Forum will be honoring undergraduate students who have completed outstanding research projects as part of their education abroad experience.  Only two UC EAP students can be nominated. Winners will have the opportunity to present their research at the next annual Forum Conference (March 1-3, 2007 in Austin, TX).  The top 15 student research papers will be considered for publication in a special issue of Frontiers:  The Interdisciplinary Journal of Study Abroad.  Additional information, application requirements and the application form is available at: http://www.forumea.org/undergrad_research_awards.html If you meet the application criteria and wish to apply, contact Ines DeRomana (ideromana@eap.ucop.edu) at the Universitywide Office of EAP to be considered as one of the two UC students which EAP can nominate.
