EAP Planning for Women's Studies Majors

Why study Women's Studies abroad?

"To be engaged in women's studies means thinking about the cultural construction of gender. That's why women' studies students benefit so much from education abroad. They get to actually experience another culture's gender norms while acquiring the academic tools to analyze gender as a cultural category. It's the most powerful way of learning I know."

Associate Professor, History

Making EAP Fit

Women's Studies majors have many opportunities to study abroad. EAP offers a variety of Women and Gender Studies programs allowing students to choose to study abroad for a quarter, semester, summer, or year in English or in a foreign language. Gain an international experience by studying different disciplinary perspectives of Women Studies in another country. Also, take a look at the UC faculty recommendations for Women's Studies.

It may be difficult to conceptualize studying abroad and still graduating in 4 years. Review Examples of what a 4 year plan may look like when studying abroad for a semester or a year taking lower and/or upper division Women's Studies courses. Also, view a list of EAP courses approved for Women's Studies credit by the Humanities Department.

Strategies for Women's Studies Majors

Note: These are only a few strategies that demonstrate how a student can study abroad and graduate within 4 years. There are many EAP programs that can be substituted into the same strategies. DO NOT LET THESE EXAMPLES LIMIT YOU. Please consult the EAP Program Wizard for more options.
