Study Abroad for Undecided/Undeclared Students

Why study abroad?
Academic Advising and Approval for EAP:

"By coming to UC Irvine as an Undecided/ Undeclared student you have taken the first step towards acknowledging how many exciting opportunities there are to learn about yourself and the world while you're a student at UC Irvine.  You are here to explore all that the University has to offer and our Education Abroad Programs (EAP) are among the most rewarding learning experiences available.  No matter what major(s) you end up declaring, you will become a better informed citizen of our increasingly global world if you participate in EAP.  It's not too soon to begin planning for this amazing experience.  Go abroad and take breadth courses while you learn about the world, yourself and where you wish to head next in your academic career!"

Dr. Rudi C. Berkelhamer
Associate Dean, Division of Undergraduate Education
Senior Lecturer SOE, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology

1. Review How to Get Credit.

2. For study abroad program recommendations review the Strategies below.

3. Required: Undecided/Undeclared students must meet with an Undecided/Undeclared Academic Advisor after being selected for EAP participation.  Once you know the courses that will be offered during the term(s) that you will be abroad, make an appointment to meet with an Undecided/Undeclared Academic Advisor.  Bring to the appointment descriptions of the courses you plan to take while abroad. The advisor will help you determine which courses are likely to meet degree requirements.  Call 949-824-6987 to make an appointment.

Optional:  Undecided/Undeclared students may meet with an Undecided/Undeclared Academic Advisor sooner, as needed, for advising.

4.
While on EAP, if course availability requires that you change your schedule, feel free to use the Ask An Advisor e-mail tool on the Undecided/Undeclared Web site to ask which other courses are likely to count toward degree requirements.

5. Upon return from EAP, contact an Undecided/Undeclared Academic Advisor about the process to petition the EAP courses for credit toward requirements. Be sure to save course syllabi, projects, assignments, papers, portfolio, etc. as they may be required.

Academic Advising and Approval for IOP:
