General Education (GE) requirements that are the best suited to fulfill while studying abroad are listed below.  Other GE requirements can be challenging or impossible to complete abroad.  Plan to complete I, II, V and VII at UCI instead of abroad.  See examples for completing III, IV, VI, and VIII abroad at the links below.

Take courses that fulfill Category III Social and Behavioral Sciences and/or Category IV Arts and Humanities during a summer or semester abroad.

Fulfill Category VI Language Other Than English by taking language courses abroad.

Automatically fulfill Category VIII International/Global Issues by studying abroad.  The program must be at least five weeks long and you must complete at least one course worth 4-quarter units. IOP participants must have an approved IOP Credit Contract (available at the Study Abroad Center).
